Infinite Wilderness features the work of artist, photographer, and writer, Daniel Buck; who has spent three decades exploring the rugged wilderness of Alaska and Northern Canada.
Born and raised along the shores of the Chesapeake Bay near Washington D.C., Daniel first fell in love with nature spending summers at his great-grandmothers lakefront cabin in rural Canada, backpacking the Appalachian Trail with classmates, and participating in a series of multi-week wilderness expeditions in Alaska. These keystone events cemented Daniel’s love for wilderness.
That passion for wilderness led Daniel to follow his heart and move to Juneau, Alaska where he studied Environmental Science, Marine Biology, and Eco-Criticism. He worked as a sea-kayak guide for many years as he developed his career as a professional wilderness photographer.
His travels throughout the expansive landscape of Alaska and Northern Canada include over five-thousand miles of paddling a sea-kayak, a thousand-miles of white water rafting, and hundreds of miles of backcountry explored by foot. Daniel has been fortunate to bear witness to some of the most rugged and remote wilderness on the planet while being in the presence of whales, bears, and wolves.
Daniel’s work has been featured in books, magazines, television shows, and in the homes of thousands of art-collectors. For nearly a decade, he operated the Daniel Buck Gallery in downtown Juneau, Alaska where he was able to share his passion for the wilderness with patrons from across the globe. His work has been featured in numerous galleries and museums; including the Alaska State Museum, the Burke Museum of Natural History, as well as the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History.
